One Love, 2 Vans!

Team Bios!

The brainchild of Yoga Practitioner/Marathoner/Inspiration/Nursing Legend Susan B. Maddigan, Mass Exodus is a team of individuals with Cape Cod and Boston roots- who like to run and love to party.

Susan Maddigan:

An avid runner throughout her life, Susan has completed numerous triathlons, races, Falmouth Road Races, and most recently the Boston Marathon in 2008. Susan lives in Falmouth, MA during the summers and sails the southern seas with her husband, Tom, on their 40' Bristol Sloop, Brilliant, when the winter winds make New England nearly inhabitable.  She's back in town now and back in training for the Relay.  She's excited to be Mass Exodus' final leg runner, our anchor-woman, and the focus of all of our cheers at the finish line.

Patrick Maddigan:

A former DIII football player at The Johns Hopkins University and 4 yr captain of the club lacrosse team (he has stopped giving out his graduation date because his "prime" now seems to far away), Patrick is a 2009 alumnus of Suffolk Univ. Law School, where he graduated with honors while holding numerous student body leadership positions and participating as a student attorney in the Housing and Consumer Protection clinic.   As an Attorney-at-Law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, "PT" remains more of a sprinter than a distance runner, but is eager to help the team  and teach everyone how to "throw down" at the finish party.  Patrick lives in South Boston, but is originally from Falmouth, and a 15+ year veteran of his town's famous road race.  Though as of late his times are bordering on DNF status, this is his comeback.

Brendan Maddigan is taller than his older brother, which gives him longer strides, clearly the only way he could win in a footrace nowadays. A former DIII Lacrosse player and team Captain while at MIT, yeah that MIT, Brendan is a real estate mogul in training.  After recently learning that he couldn't out think this race, Brendan is busy getting back into shape for the relay.  Originally from Falmouth, "BT" now lives in Brooklyn, NY with his fiance/roommate Lexi Deluca. This race will help him fit into his suit/tux for their wedding next fall.

Michelle Lenzo:

Once famously said "I hate running. I'll never be a runner". Not long after uttering those very words Michelle has finished two Falmouth Road Races, her first NYC half marathon, another NYC half is upcoming and she's ready for more. A graduate of the University of Tennessee and team manager for the Women's Basketball team under Pat Summit, Michelle was quick to "volunteer" for this relay race, and Mass Exodus is lucky to have her.

Thomas L Bushy, Jr.:

Tom, aka The Bushman, has, by nearly all accounts but his own, become obsessed with running. As a former DI college lacrosse goalie and record setting kicker in high school, its likely Tom is just making up for lost time since those are reportedly the two laziest positions in the history of athletics, not counting most Olympic sports (seriously?  Curling?)  Tom finished the Cape Cod Marathon this year, adding that accomplishment to a trophy case full of 5 & 10Ks and sprint triathlons. A Falmouth High, SUNY Stony Brook and UMass Boston grad, Tom is currently a teacher at Bourne High School. He lives in Falmouth with his 3 young boys, Tommy, Nathan, and Lukas and his wife Traci.

Traci Bushy:
A legendary field hockey player while at Falmouth High and UNH alum, Traci loves her kids... but she also loves to get away from the craziness that 3 young boys can create, so she runs- often so fast the wind gets jealous.  Traci is a dedicated mother, who also has her hands full with her husband and his scumbag friends, her 3 brothers, 2 brothers in law.  By all accounts everything good that is Lukas, Nathan, and Tommy is to her credit alone.

Nicole & Mike Depford:
Quite the pair, these two, though it is Nicole who is known for her running exploits, and Mike more for his skills on a golf course, and he claims at the hockey rink as well. Nicole is a veteran of many marathons and road races and is a welcome addition to the team. Mike has pledged to walk and/or jog the golf course this spring so he is in shape for this race. Mike famously stated "If Pat can do it, I can."  Both have legitimate reputations for knowing how to party and bring more than just their athletic excellence to the squad.

Geoff Keller:
Known affectionately as "GoffMan"; joins the team as one of our few under 30 members and likely our most mysterious. Originally a Falmouth resident, now a physical therapist living in the Boston area, "Goff" attended Northeastern Univ.; rumors have been circulating for years indicating that he has since obtained his doctorate degree, but as of our deadline we have heard no confirmation of this (yeah... we didn't ask). "Goff Man" allegedly ran the Cape Cod Marathon without training in around 4hrs 30min, but that too is unconfirmed. We do know that he comes from a strong family of runners; Goff's dad was a former president of Falmouth Track Club and his mother has completed over 20 marathons! He is best known as best friend Joe Bushy, aka the ButtMan, and a fixture at many Bushy family get-togethers.

Melissa Stone:
Did you know a Stone weighs 6.35029318 kilograms? I did, and now, you do too. Did you know Melissa Stone is a kick butt runner who's excited to take on this new adventure? Again, I think I need to educate you. Allow me to drop this knowledge: Melissa began running seriously about 3 years ago when she trained for and ran her first Boston Marathon, you know "NBD" (no big deal). Since thn she has run in and completed 4 marathons (3 Boston, 1 NYC), successfully qualifying in 2 out of 4, and is currently preparing for Boston yet again. Oh yeah, and BTW (I'm not explaining that one) she ran her first Ironman earlier this year in Madison, WI. Did you know Melissa Stone is a glutton for punishment? Now you know.

Paul "PJ" Cooney
Paul likes running. Always has. But last year his girlfriend Melissa started secretly sneaking a cocktail made of: two parts HgH; one part of the stuff A-Rod was on; three parts liquid mercury; and 4 oz of Irish Whiskey, stirred with a wooden spoon made from a tree hit by lightning... the result? PJ completed not one but TWO marathons, Boston and NYC, grew wings on his feet, and now carries his spoon around with him at all times in a special case; rumor is he's named it Wonder Boy. Now, though off "the juice" (he's rumored to have told Congress that he's not here to talk about the past), PJ is excitedly training for Boston again, and is a fixture running in the streets of Boston's Back Bay. PJ also loves to snowboard, which instantly earned him street cred with the team, something he needed with this group.

Lauren Watka
Lauren is an enigma to even her own teammates.  After deciding to run in the relay she promptly went out sea for a week and a half in order to get her head right for the adventure she has just decided to undertake.  She had promised to elaborate on her mysterious past and blows the doors off our competition when she gets back- and here it is, a bio from Ms. Incognito herself:
A marine biologist by day and stealthy runner by night, Lauren is ready to put her years of competitive running (two marathons, three half marathons, and 5 years of varsity cross-country) to the Cape Cod trails. Currently trying to fit in runs during spells on dry land, she's pumped to run on a team again. P-U-M-Ped.

So there it is, your 2010 13Relay Boston-to-PTown Mass Exodus relay team.
