Hey all,
Below please see an email sent to us by way of the 13Relay team. I guess they were worried about the amount of people rolling through the National Seashore... though with the race being in early May I'm not convinced their concerns are entirely justified. Regardless, I wanted you all to be kept abreast of whats happening. They'll be a webinar soon with more info for all!
"We sent out an email last week and it seems as some of you may have not received it. We apologize if you did not get it the first time, or if you are now receiving this email for the 2nd time.
There have been some updates to "The Book", including a few leg changes. Nothing too drastic except the last 2 runners.
Because the number of teams surpassed our initial projections, the National Seashore feels this event will be too much impact for the park to handle with their weekend day use patrons. With this said, we need to respect their decision and keep runners from using that area to reduce their impact. With this change, the full course is reduced just shy of 5 miles. This change only affects the last 2 legs which have now been shortened.
On race day, we were planning on having an orientation before each wave of runners goes off and also have to stage your team photos. We've decided to change this up a little bit.
Since van #1 is usually the only one to show up at the start line, we've decided to do a webinar to give your full team the opportunity to listen in on rules, notes and happenings along the course.
Anyone will be able to type in any specific questions and we'll post all the Q&A's just a few days after the webinar so everyone can go over them.
We've also decided to do your team photos at the finish line in lieu of the start line. This will allow your full team to be together with your sweet finisher medals hanging around around your necks!
Once we set the date set for the webinar, we'll email that webinar link, date and time to the team captains only. It will be your responsibility to pass this on to your team if they want to log in and watch. If you can't make it at that time, that's ok, we'll record it and have it on our site for you to stream when your schedule permits.
If you have any questions after viewing the book or new maps, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thanks again for all of your support, we're excited to have you out!"
- A few other things to note, Exchanges 18 and 24 have moved slightly. With this move, they are not able to approve the use of the kitchens like our previous locations had offered. Please be prepared and bring plenty of food for your team.
- Please view the area on the Book about mandatory safety equipment. We are requiring some extra safety equipment for night running.
- We've included a GPS coordinate list for each exchange, this will be VERY helpful when navigating to Exchange 28 since you can't follow the runners on the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Please take advantage of this list and plug into your GPS devices or mapquest any exchange you have questions about.
